
Easy Seed Stitch Earflap Hat – Bulky Yarn Knitting Pattern for Beginners

🧵 Materials:

1 skein bulky yarn (about 100–120g) – natural brown wool recommended

🧶 Stitches used:
Seed stitch (punto arroz):
Row 1: K1, P1 across
Row 2: P1, K1 across
Repeat these two rows.
👒 Instructions:
Earflaps (make 2):
Cast on 4 stitches.
Work in seed stitch, increasing 1 stitch at each edge every other row until you have 18 stitches.
Work even in seed stitch for 2 more rows.
Cut yarn and place stitches on a stitch holder.
Main hat:

Cast on 12 stitches (for back of the hat).

Knit across one earflap from holder (18 stitches).

Cast on 12 stitches (front).

Knit across second earflap from holder (18 stitches).
Total: 60 stitches -
Join to knit in the round. Place stitch marker at beginning of round.

Shaping the crown:
Switch to double-pointed needles if needed.
Decrease in stockinette stitch (optional for simplicity):
