About Us
Villama – Warm and High-Quality Wool from Around the World
Villama was founded in 2024 out of a love for exotic, untreated yarns. Earlier this year, we traveled through South America and Argentina, where we fell in love with the locally produced Argentinian wool and the unique care practices for their sheep and llamas.
The softness of llama wool and the organic, untreated texture of the yarn left a lasting impression on us. At the same time, we wondered why such warm, high-quality, and pure wool is not more readily available in Finland and the Nordic countries, where there is a need for such textiles and craft supplies due to the climate. This realization led to the founding of Villama.
Villama now brings these superbly high-quality and natural yarns to all enthusiasts of knitting and crocheting. Our name reflects a play on words that combines the names of the animals producing Argentinian wool: “Villa” from sheep wool and “Llama” from the Spanish name for llama, adding a touch of exoticism and history to our brand.
Our goal is to offer you the opportunity to create beautiful and durable crafts with yarns that have traceable origins and are produced responsibly. We want to share our passion for these natural materials and inspire all craft lovers, regardless of age.
By using Villama yarns, you can feel a connection to distant lands and the people there who lovingly and skillfully produce these unique yarns. We hope that our yarns bring you warm moments and beautiful crafts that last from generation to generation.
Warm welcome to the world of Villama!
Best regards,
Miki Ojala
